European champions Real Madrid are prepared to discuss a potential agreement which could see both Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is keen to recoup funds for the transfer of Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, and this could trigger the departures of fringe duo Morata and Rodriguez, Diario Gol.
Morata has been identified as a probable option to bolster the Blues’ ranks after they lost out on the services of Romelu Lukaku, but he will nevertheless come at a hefty price of €90m.
On the other hand, Rodriguez is aching for a move to a fresh league after being restricted to just 13 league starts over the course of the 2016/17 La Liga season.
Antonio Conte is due to hold showdown talks with Diego Costa next week, but he is nevertheless open to recruiting a world-class striker, who could strengthen the squad further.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez could evolve into a handy option in the wider areas – potentially competing with the likes of Willian and Pedro next season, while Eden Hazard recovers from his ankle fracture.
