Fed govt earmarks N45bn for North-east reconstruction


The federal government has dedicated N45 billion in the 2017 budget for the North-east reconstruction.
The member representing Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency, Mr. Adamu Kamale, disclosed in an interview with newsmen in Gulak, the headquarters of Madagali local government area.
Kamale was in Gulak to present relief materials, donated by the Presidential Committee for North East Initiative (PCNI), to the returnee communities in Madagali area.
“In 2017 appropriate budget, many incentives were put aside for the reconstruction of North East region. Among the provision was a total sum of N45 billion for the reconstruction and development of the affected areas by Boko Haram in the region,” he said.
Kamale confirmed that another N1 billion was earmarked for the reconstruction of Mararaba-Mubi to Madagali federal highway. He added that substantive amounts was also earmarked for the reconstruction of all bridges destroyed from Mararaba-Mubi, Madagali to Gwoza on federal highway in 2017 fiscal year.
He said he and other members from the region would not relent until all destroyed and affected infrastructure by Boko Haram were recovered.
