St Etienne coach Christophe Galtier has said he believes his side can still overcome Manchester United and keep their Europa League campaign alive.
Galtier saw his team beaten 3-0 in the first leg at Old Trafford last week as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat trick.
But as the sides prepare to meet again in France on Wednesday, when a capacity crowd will fill the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Galtier told a news conference: “We start with a big handicap of three goals, but it’s not insurmountable.
“We’ll have a full stadium. The atmosphere will be really electric.
“There can be an extraordinary start, things happening in the game, lots of things. The important thing is to play the game to win it and then to win it.
“We’ll get more chances, and we’ll have to take them this time. We will also have to try and contain Manchester’s attack.”
Ibrahimovic’s hat trick took his tally to 17 in 14 competitive games against Les Verts.
“He’s difficult to neutralise,” Galtier said. “There might be an anti-Zlatan plan or an anti-Paul Pogba plan, but in that team the danger can come from elsewhere, from everywhere.
“I don’t know what Zlatan has in him, but he likes playing against us. Not everyone can score a hat trick in European competition. But he also benefited from a lot of events in his favour.”
