Lagos govt calls for another look on special status

The Lagos State Government on Monday reiterated its appeal to the National Assembly to revisit the issue on the special status for the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, made the call in Alausa, Ikeja, during the inauguration of the ‘Eko Shirt’ in preparation for the celebration of Lagos at 50.
The commissioner urged the federal lawmakers to put politics aside and do the needful by granting Lagos a special status.
“The National Assembly must set aside politics and regional bias to grant Lagos State a special status which the state deserves,” he said.
The commissioner said the government was partnering Team Nigeria to inaugurate the ‘Eko Shirt’ after which a road-show would be embarked on for 10 days to create awareness on the celebration of Lagos at 50.
He said the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led government had been promoting the concept of inclusive governance, adding that government policies, projects and programmes were being driven by the needs of communities.
