Makarfi hails PDP’s victories in Taraba, Gombe, Rivers elections

The Sen. Ahmed Makarfi led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday declared that the party’s victories in Taraba, Gombe and Rivers states, was an indication that it will win the 2019 general elections.
They noted that despite the party’s leadership crisis, the party’s victory in those elections shows that the party is still on ground. Spokesman of the Makarfi led PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said that Nigerians are already tired of the yoke placed on them by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While he stressed that 2019 will be like a revolution by the people, the party spokesman, noted that the decampment of some its members won’t deter the PDP ahead of 2019.
Adeyeye said, “We congratulate our governors and party members in those states. The victory shows PDP is still on ground and loved by the people.
“We are confident that we will win in 2019 once we put all of these leadership tussles behind us.
“Nigerians are behind us. We want to change this change. Irrespective of the decampments here and there, PDP will win.
“2019 will be like a revolution of the people against APC. The people will throw them out. The yoke of APC on the Nigerian people is too much.”
Similarly, chairman of PDP’s Board of Trustees, Sen Walid Jibrin, expressed confidence that PDP will emerge stronger in 2019.
Responding to a enquiry, Sen Jibrin, said, “As party leaders are trying hard to ensure everlasting unity in the party I want to congratulate Rivers and Gombe states governors for the success recorded in winning all the bye elections. By the grace of God, PDP will emerge strongest as one family and shall win all bye and main elections.”
On their part, the acting national publicity secretary of Sen Ali Modu Sheriff’s PDP, Hon Bernard Mikko, said while the media will better gauge and predict the party’s chances ahead of 2019, their party leadership is more focused on returning the party to 1998 era.
Mikko said, “The journalists who are the eyes and ears of the ordinary people, particularly at the grassroots where the votes are generated, are in a better position to gauge the pulse of the electorate and do aprojection into the future, everything remaining equal.
“That is why the national chairman, Sen Ali Modu Sheriff is seeking to bring the party back to the 1998/1999 era that endeared the hearts of Nigerians.”
