Whistleblower Policy: NGO urges civil servants to expose corruption

An Abuja-based nongovernmental organization (NGO), Almushahid Initiative For Transparency and Accountability, has called on civil servant to take advantage of the Whistle Blower Policy and expose corrupt practices in the civil service.
President of the NGO, Ambassador Aminu Majidadi, who made the call during a rally held yesterday at the Federal Secretariat said that there are several petitions against government officials, parastatals and agencies brought to the organization.
According to Majidadi, “Corruption is like a termite eating into our bone marrow. It is the major cause of our underdevelopment and we say enough is enough to misappropriation of public funds, “he said.
Also speaking the chairman of Contractors Forum under the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Lawal Adewale Nureni, disclosed that there were many abnormalities going on in the ministries and agencies.
He alleged that a portion of funds released by federal government for projects carried out between 2010-2015 are being withheld by Ministry of Lands and Housing with many other not being utilised for the purpose they are meant for.
He continued: “Many of our leaders and civil servants encourage corruption. As a matter of fact, mismanagement of public funds is the cause of the recession the country is facing today.
